Word Connect: Find Every Word Hidden in the Letters

Word Connect is a free daily word game where you click letters in a circle to spell every word hidden inside a themed 7-letter set, with one secret bonus word hidden on top of the visible list. Each round is built around a theme (Ocean, Space, Garden, Kitchen, Music, or Weather), rewards fast solving with a rising score multiplier, and reveals a trivia fact tied to the theme once you finish. No sign-up, no downloads, with both a daily puzzle and unlimited Endless mode.

What is Word Connect?

Word Connect gives you a circle of 7 letters tied to a theme, and your job is to click those letters in order to spell out every real word hiding inside that letter set. Solved words fill into slots below the circle, grouped and labeled by length so you always know how many letters you're chasing. It's built around the same "click letters to build a word" mechanic found in classic mobile word-search games, but with a few mechanics layered on that reward speed and encourage exploring past the obvious answers.

Unlike a pure anagram solver, Word Connect doesn't show you a blank list of every possible word up front, you have to find them by typing and testing. And unlike most letter-circle games, one valid word in every puzzle is deliberately left off the visible list entirely: the golden word, a bonus you only get credit for if you think to try it.

How to play Word Connect: a full walkthrough

  1. Look at the letter circle. Seven letters are arranged around a circle, tied to that round's theme.
  2. Click letters in order to spell a word. Each click adds that letter to your current word, shown above the circle. Click Shuffle at any point to rearrange the circle if it helps you see new combinations.
  3. Watch the heat bar as you type. A thin bar beneath the word slots fills up the closer your current sequence of letters is to matching the start of a valid word still left to find, without telling you which one.
  4. Submit your word. If it matches one of the puzzle's target words, it fills into its slot and your score goes up. If it's wrong, the circle gives a small shake and nothing is lost, there's no penalty for a bad guess.
  5. Use Undo or Clear if you misclick. Undo removes just your last letter; Clear resets your whole current word.
  6. Keep going to build your multiplier. Solve words back-to-back without a miss in between and your score multiplier climbs, up to 5x, for meaningfully more points per word the longer your streak holds.
  7. Look for the golden word. It's never shown as a slot, only becomes visible if you actually spell it out and submit it, triggering a bonus and a burst of confetti.
  8. Finish the puzzle to reveal the theme's trivia fact. The category name is hidden until you solve every visible word, at which point a short fact tied to that theme is revealed.

Worked example

Say the puzzle's theme is Ocean and the letter circle contains S, H, A, R, K, E, T. A natural first move is to spell the obvious word sitting right in the letters: SHARK. That fills a 5-letter slot. From there, the same seven letters can also spell HEART, TEAR, HEAT, and a few 3-letter words like SEA and EAR. What most players miss: those same seven letters also spell STEAK, a perfectly valid word that has nothing to do with the Ocean theme and isn't shown anywhere on the board. That's the golden word for this puzzle, since the golden word is picked purely because the letters support it, not because it fits the theme.

Word Connect's features, explained

  • Golden bonus word: one valid word per puzzle that's deliberately never shown as a slot. Finding it is entirely optional to "complete" the puzzle, but it's worth a flat score bonus and triggers a small celebration when you land it.
  • Streak multiplier: solving words consecutively without a wrong guess in between raises your multiplier one step at a time, up to 5x. A single miss resets it back to 1x, so the multiplier rewards accuracy as much as speed.
  • Heat indicator: a live progress bar that responds to what you've typed so far, filling in proportionally as your current letters match further into any remaining word. It's a hint mechanic that never reveals an actual answer, just how "warm" your current path is.
  • Theme reveal on completion: the category name stays hidden while you play and is only shown, along with a short trivia fact, once you've solved every visible word.
  • Shareable recap: after finishing, a text summary of your result (theme, words found, whether you got the golden word, your score, and your time) can be copied and shared.

How we build and verify Word Connect's puzzles

Every puzzle's word list is computed directly from its seven letters against a curated word list, not hand-typed guesses at what might fit. That means the set of solvable words in each puzzle is generated by checking, letter by letter, which real words the circle can actually spell, and the golden word is selected from that same verified set rather than picked separately. Puzzles across the site, including this one, are built and verified by the Wordle Today team.

The daily puzzle is selected using a fixed, repeatable method tied to the date, so every player gets the same theme and letters on the same day. If a word is ever found to be miscategorized or missing, we correct the underlying list rather than patching a single day's puzzle.

Word Connect vs. other letter-based word games

  • Vs. Wordle-style games (Wordle Today, Category Wordle): those give you one hidden word and narrow it down through repeated guesses with color feedback. Word Connect flips the structure, you're given all the letters up front and need to find multiple words hidden inside them, with no feedback on individual letters.
  • Vs. a plain word unscrambler: an unscrambler shows you every possible word a set of letters can make as soon as you ask. Word Connect deliberately withholds that list, you build words yourself and only see the ones you actually find, plus a golden word you're never told about at all.
  • Vs. multi-board Wordle variants (Sedecordle Plus): those add difficulty by making you solve several separate boards at once. Word Connect instead adds depth to a single round through the golden word, the multiplier, and the heat indicator, favoring one deeper puzzle over several parallel ones.

Strategy: how to find every word faster

  • Start with the most obvious word in the letters. There's usually one word that jumps out immediately, often close to the puzzle's theme; solving it first gets your multiplier moving.
  • Work systematically through short words once the obvious ones are found. Three- and four-letter combinations are easy to overlook once you're focused on longer words, but they fill slots and keep your streak alive.
  • Watch the heat bar when you're stuck. If it climbs while you're mid-word, you're on the right track, keep extending or trying a different ending rather than clearing and starting over.
  • Don't stop at the visible slots. Once every shown word is solved, try a few more combinations before moving on. Many of the letters that don't fit the puzzle's theme are exactly where the golden word tends to hide.
  • Use Shuffle when you're stuck. Rearranging the circle doesn't change the letters, but seeing them in a new order can make a combination click that a static layout was hiding.

Common mistakes to avoid

  • Breaking your streak on a guess you're not sure about. A wrong submission resets your multiplier to 1x, so it's often better to keep building a word mentally before submitting than to guess repeatedly.
  • Assuming the puzzle is done once every slot is filled. The golden word is never part of the visible slots, finishing the shown list doesn't mean you've found everything the letters can spell.
  • Ignoring 3-letter words. They're easy to overlook while hunting for longer words, but they count the same toward completing the puzzle.

Frequently asked questions

Is Word Connect free to play?

Yes. Word Connect is completely free, with no account, sign-up, or download required.

What is the golden word?

The golden word is a bonus word that the puzzle's letters can spell but that is never shown as a slot. Finding it isn't required to finish the puzzle, but it awards a score bonus and a small celebration when you submit it.

Does guessing wrong cost me anything?

No, there's no penalty for an incorrect guess beyond resetting your score multiplier back to 1x. You can try as many combinations as you like.

How does the score multiplier work?

Each correct word you solve in a row raises your multiplier by one step, up to a maximum of 5x, increasing the points each subsequent word is worth. A wrong guess resets the multiplier back to 1x.

Can I play more than once a day?

Yes. After the daily puzzle, Endless mode offers unlimited randomly selected puzzles so you're not limited to just one round per day.

How do you make sure the puzzle's words are accurate?

Each puzzle's word list, including the golden word, is generated by checking which real words the letter set can actually spell against a curated word list, rather than being hand-picked or scraped from unverified sources.

Is Word Connect affiliated with other word-connect style games?

No. This version of Word Connect is an independently built game created by the Wordle Today team, and is not affiliated with or endorsed by any other app or website using a similar name or format.
